The «Butterfly Hug» is a self-soothing technique used to help regulate emotions, especially during times of distress or anxiety. It can be a useful tool for grounding and calming oneself. Here's how to perform it: 1. **Find a comfortable position:** Sit or stand in a relaxed posture. You can do this anywhere – at your desk, on a couch, or even while waiting in line. 2. **Place your hands on your chest:** Bring your hands up to your chest. The action of tapping should be light, not forceful. 5. **Focus on your breathing:** As you tap, pay attention to your breath. Try to take slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose, feeling your abdomen expand, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Match your breathing to the tapping rhythm if it feels natural. 6. **Stay present and observe:** While you are tapping and breathing, try to simply be present in the moment. Notice any sensations in your body, any thoughts or emotions that arise, without judgment. The goal isn't to make these things disappear, but to acknowledge them from a calmer, more regulated state. 7. **Continue for a few minutes:** You can continue the Butterfly Hug for as few as 1-2 minutes or as long as »
